Hello, everyone.

I am posting from Pittsburgh. I am visiting my family for the holidays.

My mom, who has had Parkinson’s for 20 years, is doing well, all things considered. She has a really sweet dog to keep her cheerful. My stepfather is such a good man; she is very lucky to have him.

I see my father today. He is transitioning to stage 4 of 7 of dementia. I am having dinner with my sister, stepmother, and father tonight. He has been unwilling to see either of his daughters until now...I think he is embarrassed about his mental state. It’s tragic, really. My father was brilliant...and now his short-term memory is all but shot.

My sister, brother-in-law and I had box seats to the Penguins hockey game last night. I’m sure Mel is jealous! They won 6-4. All the excited was in the first and last three minutes of the game...the rest was not very exciting.

I have stuck to my diet as much as possible. A few minir cheats which is somewhat inevitable while traveling. I have taken my protocol. I haven’t reacted to either environment (my mother’s and sister’s homes) or their pets (a dog and a cat), but I have not allowed myself too much contact with either animal. Just enough to be polite.

I fly home on New Year’s Eve. Please say prayers for my safe flight home.

Mel, I know you have called once. I’ve been really busy since I arrived here (everyone knows I have been sick for four years and wants to make sure I have a good time with little stress), so I wasn’t in a place where I could pick up. I will check in with you Monday. I will have a morning window of time to do that.

I keep all of you in my prayers.

Jamie
