I responded to you in another post. I believe you said you were wearing box braids. I was wearing cornrows... I did cut my bra strap length, natural hair off to about 2 inches and am very glad I did. Currently using a dog shampoo and rinse. It is an anti-parasitic, anti-fungal and anti-yeast product. In addition, because it is cut short, I can really get to my scalp and treat it with MMS. I just couldn't stand the itching and crawling sensations any more.
Having Afro-American hair, we tend not to wash our hair more than once a week which is not good for this condition. Now I can wash it whenever I shower and the itching is sooooo much less. Probably will keep it short until I am cured, then I will grow back a head of natural, beautiful, healthy, long hair.
You are right, health comes before beauty - so cutting it off was no biggie for me - even though I loved my hair - it was so worth the sacrifice and is so much easier to deal with. And I get a lot of compliments on the new short, natural look.
