To Chris who was on the conference call on Saturday. Hearing you talk about not doing well instantly brought me back to how I was feeling about 5 months ago...I was nervous to join the conference calls, and feeling utterly miserable physically. Like many of us, I was frightened by many of the websites out there...how could I trust this particular website, or these people? How could I possibly ever drink WPS when I normally was never the type to never even drink cough syrup!? But, like most of us, I found myself, in desperation, trying virtually anything to cure myself in the beginning...windex, bleach baths, sulfur soaps, straight clove oil, you name it, I tried it. Please take heart--and know that this protocol truly works...I am living proof of it. I am at 6 months and holding at 14 drops now on the protocol..in these 6 months, I have lost 40 pounds and am back to my pre-pregnancy weight, and holding steady, thanks to lots of avocados and coconut oil. I don't look bad anymore..starting to get some color back in my cheeks, and my hair texture is improving. My sleep is sound--the WPS seems to help me sleep at night...I don't need to take sleeping aids such as Melatonin or Lorazapam anymore to fall asleep. As I'm feeling better, my anxiety is going down...it is such a blessed luxury to lie down in clean sheets and not feel a single crawl or bite. I have learned to embrace the diet. In the beginning, I felt very frustrated by it as I love to cook, and bake, have wine with dinner, coffee afterwards, and so on! But the many recipes published on the website really do offer a fantastic array of dishes that even my picky kids enjoy. My hair loss seems to be slowing down as I am progressing through the protocol. I just noticed today for the first time in 6 months that my back has stopped tingling..it was the place where I got bit by some sort of bug initially which gave me M. It used to be the worst spot on my body, always burning, tingling like mad. And now--it's gone! It's nothing short of miraculous what this protocol does (AND following the diet, and sleep, finding time and ways to relax, and drinking plenty of water! Truly the sum of the parts as Mel says.). Just wanted to give you and anyone else out there suffering with this, some reassurance...I am a very private sort of person, and it was quite hard for me to accept I had M, and then equally difficult to get out of my shell and talk to strangers about it. But this is the only place where we can all talk about our situation...my brothers, and relatives, all the many doctors I saw, and even my closest friend just suggested I try pyschotherapy...I cannot blame them. How can they possibly understand? I am waiting for dermatologists or other doctors to get this disease and see what happens...change will come, and eventually this disease will be officially recognized, but in the meantime, we are in the right place with Mel's protocol. Everything Mel has said or written has proved to me to be dead-on true, thus far. My environment has gotten so much better as I've gotten better..no more wiping up black specks everywhere from my counters and floors. A few things that proved helpful to me: infrared saunas. If you can find one, try it. It seems more effective than a regular one. Cistus incanus tea. Reputed to be a super anti-oxidant and bio-film buster. I drink this in the morning or afternoon, far away from taking the WPS...did not want to counter-act the oxidizing effect of WPS. Straight lemon juice for wiggles and bites that persist. I would drink 4 cups of it straight, but even 1 cup really helps. Borax is my new best friend! It is fabulous, mixed with Epsom salts, and a few drops of peppermint, lavender, lemon or clove in the bath. Use it everyday in the laundry. I would gently scrub it on my feet and legs in the bath, really provided some relief. Biosilver--although I don't use it often topically because it is pricey, it does provide relief for wiggles and bites..a capful rubbed onto the skin. I love my silver..another thing I was terrified to take. It wipes these things out!! To test how effective the silver was, I pulled a living black speck of M off my leg once and put it in a small dish of biosilver...it swam in circles, amazingly quickly, and left a very tiny trail of blood (presumably mine) as it went, until it died. Kleen Green is truly indispensable and without peer...it saved me in the beginning, and I continue to use it for cleaning. When I was really sick, and infested, I bathed in it and sprayed it on my body all day long. I add lavender oil, a few drops to the diluted mixture, and it makes the house sparkle and shine, and smell heavenly, and it also (most importanty!)non-toxically kills bugs of all kinds. New comfort foods: Avocados with lemon juice, sea salt. If you are struggling to keep weight on, avocados are just the ticket. Trader Joes multi-seed gluten-free crackers with almond butter. Glasses of almond milk, sometimes warmed with straight cocoa powder and stevia when I want something sweet. Bits of pure unsweetened dark chocolate...I rather like the bitter taste plain...or I dip it into a small cup of stevia, and it is a bit like sweetened chocolate. Great anti-oxidant and mood lifter for chocolate-lovers like me! Handfuls of almonds and hazelnuts. A spoonful of coconut oil, along with morning supplements (away from WPS) in the morning really soothes the tummy. Accupuncture, meditation, and prayer--all extremely helpful. Long walks in nature..was afraid at first to venture back out into nature but it is healing and therapeutic. Laughter!! Even though in the beginning you feel as if you will never laugh or smile again (and it took me a few months to get there) --Watch funny movies, read the comics, talk to friends who make you smile and laugh--it is wonderfully therapeutic. I will forever be grateful for the TV sitcom "Frasier" as it has gotten me, laughing, smiling and chuckling, through these past 6 months, in spite of being caught in the grip of M. Makes me feel human and normal, again, and we all need that. Love Mimi | ||||||
