That's good that Potus was given flagyl for two weeks. But to treat Lyme disease he would also need Doxyxycline twice a day for at least 30 days. I really would get him on that if you can ASAP. Its good to alternate between the Doxyxycline and the Flagyl as they both deal with different aspects of Lyme and co-infections. Holly needed several rounds of both over a period of time. And at other times too If her immunity was low and struggling. Lyme is part of Morgellons. Holly was like Potus all of a sudden could barely eat, then would not eat at all. She was dying. She had Lyme and Morgellons and co-infections just like me. So when her illness started they put her on the wrong antibiotics which did nothing. Also because she was not eating, they really hurt her stomach lining. Yes I'm concerned re the little bit of blood when Potus does the toilet, most likely because his stomach not lined. You can get slippery elm powder from a herbalist this is a wonderful thing and just a little sprinkle mixed with water will help coat his entire digestive tract and soothe it also. Mix it with doggy probiotic also. If he won't drink can you syringe it into his mouth and massage his throat to get him to swallow it? So with the wrong antibiotics Holly was getting worse and she was falling over not eating and dying. What had started just as Lyme (though the vet had no proof of this but I knew) had graduated into her immune system breaking down. They tried another antibiotic and she got worse. They did a test and her red and white blood cells were almost at zero. She didn't have long to go. She wouldn't eat or drink. So I insisted they put her on Doxyxycline and they did and at the same time they put her on high dose immune mediated dose steroids. This was because by now her auto immune system was attacking itself. They were a last resort. And I prayed the whole weekend the whole time that she would survive. She was at the vets at deaths door, only 21 months old. She survived!!!!!:-)Thank God and thank the Doxyxycline and the high dose steroids. And then she alternated re Doxycycline and Flagyl. She was on the steroids for some time till her immunity was stabilised then tapered down, then off them. But she developed IBD and I still treat for Morgellons too. And she had several rounds of both Doxycycline and Flagyl. The only reason I mention her immune breakdown is that by then, when she was dying the Doxycycline and Flagyl were not enough. With immune breakdown and her system attacking itself she needed immune therapy re the high dose immune mediated steroids. But if a dog with Lyme and co-infections is treated early enough they would not need the immune treatment re steroids. They would just need the Doxyxycline and Flagyl. I wanted to mention it all as I have huge red flags that Potus is not eating. I'm worried. And I'm sorry Bonnie you're going through this too :-(. It's soo hard this disease for us to suffer but when loved ones suffer too. Well it can be truly heartbreaking. Has Potus got a heat pad for comfort? It helps soothe Holly. Let me know how you're getting on. Bonnie I'm sooo sorry you lost your other dog to this disease. What happened with this little one, was it similar symptoms? So so sorry :-(. Thinkng of you and Potus and praying. Love Chrissie and Holly | |||
