First, Potus has a note to pass to Holly, Der Hollee, IM a VARY HANSUM Springer. You wud like me lots. I won award at AKC obedience class. Evrybuddy stops my mom and tellz hur how HANSUM I am. Pleez pray for my mom becuz she is so wurreed about me. I think yore really kute. Luv, Potus *** Thank you so much for all your thoughts and prayers and advice! Potus has not had a fever, so that's good. I'm not sure if that means he does not have Lyme. Whether or not he has Lyme - does that determine whether to try doxycycline? The current antibiotic he is taking is helping him gradually eat a little more, but it seems to be very, very hard on his stomach and causes him pain at night. I know one of the principles is to do no harm. When I gave him a half dosage, he seemed to do better at night. I am so desperate to get him to eat that I have to break some rules right now, just to get calories in him. Yesterday I tried ice cream, and he was willing to eat 2 single scoop cones, so I was very happy with that. I know it's really bad for Morgellons, but every meal I have to decide whether to feed him something. The truth is that he will not eat anything healthy at this point. Also people have suggested chicken broth. Well, his regular diet included fresh chicken broth in his water. Right now, he won't drink that at all. If he drinks anything, it's just plain water. I tried Pedialyte, and he won't drink that. I'm not sure at what point to syringe fluids into him. He is getting fluids under the skin, but I don't want to keep doing that. However, the vet tech says some pets have it every day, like pets with diabetes, so it's not harmful, but I just wonder how long we would need to go. . I was giving him Dynovite every night at dinner and milk thistle 3x/week, but along with your suggestions (fish oil, probiotics, etc.), I don't know how to get him to take those if he won't eat. I was previously mixing it into his food. The Poopies. He has not had blood in his stools since that one time. Thank God for that!!! Two days ago his BM was formed but soft, and this morning was half firm, and half diarrhea. He used to have 2 BMs a day, but right now it's only once every one or two days. I'm so sorry it has been so difficult for you also to save Holly, but PRAISE THE LORD she made it!!! It sounds like you know exactly how this feels. Potus is my best buddy. It's kind of pathetic, but I have no kids, no spouse, so he's the world to me. My last dog - it was almost an identical progression, which is why I'm so panicked right now. But the good thing is that I know where we are and what could happen. Flagyl didn't help that much, and eventually we went to steroids to stimulate appetite, but the underlying condition still continued. Potus is a little different in that he will sometimes eat the same food a few days later. Potus is also twice Joanie's weight, and Mel has said that larger dogs do better. My last puppy, Joanie, would not every eat anything again. I feel awful bringing another dog into my home and watching him get the disease. I tried to sanitize everything, and even sprayed the yard with a bleach solution. Only LATER I learned that bleach is acidic and probably made it worse. I have asked Jesus to please help Potus, and I know Jesus can heal and perform miracles. That's his big thing. :) Miracles. I'm not sure what to do tonight with the antibiotics, if it's hurting his tummy so much, but seems to be slightly improving his overall condition (not confirmed). Maybe half dose again. | |||
