1/10/2014 10:45:24 PM | Hi everyone, Peter thanks for your wishes. I hope you had a peaceful and happy Christmas and holiday. I hope everyone did, in fact. In some ways the Christmas period is always such a rush and stressful with too many expectations. On the whole, though, it's a time that I get to spend with my children and that makes me very happy and filled with joy. It has been so very hot here in Australia over the last month; but I can't really complain when I see on tv that some parts of the US are absolutely freezing! I did however, have some thoughts, that I want to share. These came to me as a result of all the rushing around and stress over the holiday period. I realised that I was now at the stage of my healing where I need to start tweaking how I interact with my environment and the world. I realised that I can't do all the things I used to do before I got sick and that I need to start factoring my health into plans. I guess I've never really thought in that way before and this is a bit of an eye-opener for me. I'm talking about doing things like: making sure I have veges and whatever healthy food I need when I'm going to someone's place for a Christmas lunch; finding better ways of getting from A to B so I'm minimising joint/back aches; and, steering away from situations that are stressful or conflictual. The world still turns and people still do what they do. It is up to me to make sure I'm living my life as healthily as I can. It brings to mind the Desiderata ................ Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly, and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story. Hello to all my Aussie friends. Peace to you Teresa |
