6/20/2013 9:06:21 AM | Hi Nancy, It is so good to hear about your progress. I'm sure you will continue to get better. I wanted to address the Herx issue because my experience was a little different. I did not get nausea or GI symptoms but more of a general feeling that I had taken poison. That sounds dramatic, but it's the only way I can describe it. I was lightheaded, dizzy and generally sick, and like a scene out of a movie, I couldn't stand up. After laying down for a half hour, it went away. I knew it was from the MMS because I had just taken it. So I hope that helps others. We may each react differently when we reach our maximum dose, but I think you will know it because the feeling is intolerable. After 4 months of 12 drops, I have no ill effects from the MMS. I would love to be done with this, as I have little to no symptoms, but I know I need to keep going. I am only 9 months along. I also wanted to mention that I found a doctor in MA that treats M patients but I couldn't get an appointment because he practices two days a month and will not take any new patients. I will keep trying. If anyone wants to hear an interview with Joni Mitchell on Youtube, it's very long but she does mention her illness - not by name. The interviewer said he talked with her for 3 hours, and the entire interview is 90 minutes, so the Morgellons reference may have been edited out. I continue to eat the same and what's apparent to me is that many more people with a variety of illnesses are also eating similarly. I know a cancer patient whose doctor put her on a low acid, candida type diet. The foods we need to eat to survive this should be the way everyone eats to stay healthy. I do sometimes want a treat so I buy Kind bars that are very low in sugar. There are so many items in the grocery store now that are non GMO, organic and flour free, so I have an easier time preparing food. Some things I do that help . . . I brush my teeth right before drinking the MMS and the smell and taste ate not as bad. I keep my house and belongings to a minimum so less to clean and worry about. I am very careful who I share information with about this illness. Sometimes well meaning people can do hurtful things. Protect yourself. Listen to your body. On days I want to exercise but am tired and feel guilty, I rest instead. Not getting enough sleep or rest will sabotage your progress. Spend time with your loved ones. I appreciate my family and friends so much more these days. One piece of advice for new people to this site is that when you feel better and think you can deviate from the allowed foods, do not! I had an increase in my symptoms when I had company stay with me and there were foods in my house I never eat. I was feeling cocky and thought it would be ok to have those tasty carbs. Sometimes people around me will say they could never give up sugar and my response is, Of course you can. I did it out of fear and also because I want to live a long healthy life, and never had the motivation before that I have now. I can't control everything, but I can take control over what I eat. The recipes on this site are great, so use them and start with the kind of food you like and adapt the recipes to make them protocol friendly. The Candida Diet websites have great recipes too. If you have never cooked from scratch before, then learn. I work 4 days a week now and can't imagine doing any more, and many days have no energy, but my priority is to be well. I think a lot of people were praying for me when I was really sick and I don't want to let them down! Love and hope and best wishes for all of you as you move forward in health, Ellen |
