I know...it can be confusing on what you can and can't eat. I'll see if I can answer some of your questions. I don't claim to know it all...but I do think I have a handle on what works for me and what doesn't. So with that in mind... 1. Choczero peanut butter cups - RUN! Don't eat those. It's because of the peanut butter. You may have noticed in the last several years that people have developed violent peanut allergies. I'm not throwing hard data at you because I don't have it as to why...but this is what I've heard. One...peanuts have a lot of mold...and two...peanut shells are very permeable and are sponges for the chemicals sprayed to grow them. So...for whatever reason...avoid peanuts like the plague. However...Choczero syrup is another thing altogether. It's a chocolate syrup that's processed without alcohol. A lot of people in our community like it and you might enjoy some of the recipes that have it if you scroll down. If you love peanut butter cups, you may experiment with using Choczero syrup and some almond butter to create some almond butter cups. Please share if you do! 2. Sweeteners...I only use Sweet Drops...it's a liquid stevia and I've had no problems with it. Some people like monk fruit sugar or sweetener and have no problems with it. I personally like the liquid stevia better, but you might want to try them both and see what you like best and what works for you. It's confusing I'm sure when you read about keto being a great way to eat here on this site and hear about it on the conference calls. That's true...the basics of keto are great for us in this aspect...the extreme lowering of sugar or anything that can turn to sugar in our bodies. Sugar feeds the disease, so the lower we can get it the better chance all of the other things we do to kill it will work. I was all over Youtube to get recipes for keto when I first heard about it...but I soon learned some of those things for people who are only concerned with weight loss from keto don't work for us. For example...there are a lot of products with multiple ingredients they're able to eat that we're not. There are other sweeteners that work for them but not for us. Another thing that I learned for myself is that I don't need all of the fat that is a part of keto. Fat (if it's the kind we can eat) won't aggravate our symptoms, but it did make me gain weight. I probably wasn't doing my "macros" correctly, but I finally discovered that I don't do well with "fat bombs" and other added fat. The reason they do that in keto is to help people lose weight...it's some kind of formula they've put together to create a fat burning situation. That part of it didn't work for me, but that's a separate issue. The bottom line is using the very low carb piece of the keto diet to avoid feeding the pathogens. THAT works. I hope this answers your questions. It's a lot starting out, but you'll soon get your own system going. Just keep reading and participating in the calls (or listening to them). Listening to past calls is very helpful. Get a cheap spiral notebook and put tabs on it...you can even use some small post it notes for tabs to create categories. Then just bullet point things you hear or read in the separate categories as you hear them. They don't need to be in a particular order. It's an easy way to create a reference book. My best to you.
