Hi Everybody,

One of my favorite recipes on this thread is Anna’s Taco Soup recipe. The soup is delicious, but I’ve discovered over the years that her taco seasoning (included on the soup recipe and below on this post) is really a great thing to have on hand. I make it up and put it in a Mason jar and it’s handy for any number of applications.

One way I use it is for grilled chicken. I make a marinade out oil (olive, coconut, or grapeseed), fresh squeezed lime juice, and a generous amount of taco seasoning. You can bake, broil, or grill the marinated chicken, but I like to use my little George Foreman grill. I even freeze raw chicken breasts in marinade…very easy.

The seasoning is also good on vegetables. I just toss my chosen chopped vegetable in a bowl and add a little oil and a generous amount of the taco seasoning. I like to cook it in an air fryer, but it would work in the oven just as well.

Here’s the taco seasoning recipe again so you don’t have to scroll all the way down to the soup recipe:

4 tablespoons chili powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (more or less to taste)
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 tablespoon paprika
3 tablespoons cumin
1 tablespoon salt
1 tablespoon pepper

Put all of the above in a jar and shake well.
That’s a lot of ingredients…but… if you don’t have all of them here’s a cheaper way to get a quick stock of organic seasonings.

If you have a Sprouts near you, they have an area with bulk seasonings in individual jars. You can just buy what you need by pouring some in one of the supplied small zip locks and writing the product number on it. It saves a lot of up front money as compared to buying regular sized containers of everything…and…they’re all organic.

Enjoy!

Love,

Karen
