The pathology report came back that it is a calcium oxalate stone. The stone was found after I had a scan back in July of 2021 when I was in the hospital for diverticulitis so it had been there a while. At that time the doctors said it was in a spot that probably wouldn't ever cause problems, but they were wrong. I wish they would have taken care of it then. It looks like one of the things to avoid is nuts and nut products including almonds, peanuts (legume), rhubarb, spinach, wheat, soy, tea, and beets. It makes sense that I would get a stone because for years I was in the habit of eating peanut butter and almond butter by the spoonful. And I consumed a lot of tea. I do take a beet supplement for my heart health now, but usually only two times per week, although that is a fairly recent addition to my diet. I am going for a follow up ultrasound and follow up appointment with my Doctor on Monday and Tuesday of next week to see what she recommends. It is interesting that on this low carb keto diet I was consuming lots of almond products as well including almond milk, almond butter, bread with cashew and almond butter, numerous items or recipes with almond in them. So it looks like I will need to change some things up in order to avoid another stone. My sister did research and also found an Herb, Chanca Piedra, that is supposed to break down stones and prevent them as well. It has garnered the name, "Stone Breaker" and the reviews show it can break down stones and allow them to pass easily. I wish I would have known it before I was in the dire situation I was in and forced to have a $6k hospital bill to have it removed. Anyway, if anyone suffers from kidney stones or gets one I recommend ordering this herb overnight to see if it is able to allow you to avoid surgery. Thanks again. Dale | |||
