Adorable, Sweet Holly,

Thank you for the exuberant greeting! Three hellos, big woofy cuddles, and circles and hugs makes Auntie Cheryl feel very special indeed :-)

I want you to know, it doesn't surprise me a bit that you have been gently sharing your toys with your mum, and making her smile. In fact, I have heard your mum brag on your sweet care and concern.

Regarding what the human hospital did to your mum's tummy that made her act so strangely, sometimes it's not what hospitals do but what they don't do that causes problems. It could be that your mum would have benefited from a little extra TLC (tender loving care) from the hospital while she was there, and a longer stay before they sent her home. But, thankfully you have been there to encourage and watch out for her.

Concerning your questions about my husband, humans and dogs are different, so my husband would appreciate me showing my concern for him in other ways than you show your concern for your mum. Some ways I could show my concern for him would be by fixing him an ice pack, offering to get his medicine for him, or asking him if he would like me to call his doctor. On the other hand, if we had a sweet dog like you, he would probably like the dog to show concern the way you show concern for your mum.

It might be very hard to understand, but it is true that humans expect different behavior from other humans, than they do from dogs or other animals. If you think about the fact that you wouldn't want your mum to act the same way as your doggy friends, but to care for you as a mum does, it might help you to understand better.

It's very thoughtful of you to rest quietly on the floor by your mum's bed when she's tired and needs rest. I know your mum appreciates you being so sensitive. Kind looks that show love and concern must go a long way towards helping your mum feel better.

Dear Holly, if you are determined to make the first moves of friendship with the cats, just make sure your mum has plenty of antiseptic and bandaids on hand. You are going to need them! Admiring the cats through the window is definitely a better idea.

As for your mum saying I painted a funny picture of the ladies, your mum was talking about a verbal picture. A verbal picture is when someone describes something in such a way, that it allows the person to whom they are describing it, to form a picture in their mind. For instance, when you tell Auntie Cheryl that you sometimes dance around and around in circles with a toy in your mouth, you have just painted a verbal picture. I imagine what you are saying, and can picture it in my mind. Of course, the picture doesn't stay there all the time. I only see the picture in my mind when I think of you dancing in circles with a toy in your mouth.

Sweet Holly, even though intense staring did not work out well for the lady in my story, I'm very happy that it works out well for you with the meaty meat delivery van.

Thank you for the kind words. I'm always glad when I get to hear you on the calls as well, even though that isn't often.

Continue to take good care of your mum. I'm positive that your sweet, joyful, loving ways have been a great help and encouragement to her in her recovery. Making her laugh and feel loved surely helps her to heal much faster than she otherwise would.

Very sincerely and always, your

Auntie Cheryl
