I will tell you this Auntie... only special people get a special greeting !!! :-). I love to hear your voice on the calls, calling my name and Uncle Mel too. I also listen to you on the little Skype emails. The best one was when you were laughing about the flying penguins. Mum laughed a lot about that too! Mum thought the video was real of them flying about. It was an April Fools video!! Well, I thought to myself, "what do they put in human food to make them so silly?!?!" Besides mum is silly all year round and not just in April ha ha. Ha Auntie you said I wouldn't want mum to act like my doggie friends, but sometimes I would!! It would amuse me a lot if she would walk on all fours with a monkey toy in her mouth. If she'd play tug of War with the rope also in her mouth that would be cool. If she chased the cats that annoy me outside and barked at them very loudly (under my direction of what to say in canine vernacular) I'd enjoy that :-). The truth is, sometimes mum acts too much like a human and NOT enough like a dog for my liking!!! I guess she cannot help it, it's a mix of genes and learned behaviour. I have tried to teach her to act more like a dog, but she's a slow learner. Human is as human does I guess. Don't get me wrong, she needs to be human to feed, water, medicate and look after me. So you know, I know that being human can be good.. Sometimes.... . Her sense of smell though, is not very good at all. Ha! I say to her, call THAT a nose? Now... this is what I call a nose.... (I say pointing with my paw to my wee brown nose). Mum says she's glad she can't smell much especially when I have been rolling on the ground. Also, my hearing is excellent, which isn't so good when I have to listen to mum serenade me again with, 'somewhere over the rainbow.' Humans have such funny ways to show love.... with us dogs a paw and a kiss is enough. No nonsense, no frills but unconditional and always there. Mum says I can hear the grass grow. What does that mean Auntie? I have repeatedly put my ear to the grass. I don't hear anything but the odd russell in the wind. Aw, that's sweet Auntie that you sometimes have a picture of me in your mind, dancing in circles with a toy in my mouth. Thank you for describing verbal pictures. I imagine you in my mind laughing, or speaking gently in your lovely Louisiana accent. I think that the topic of verbal pictures is indeed a que for Holly dog philosophy time!! You know Auntie, it strikes me that a big part of getting well are the pictures that we all allow in our mind. Mum says that to fight toxic disease, we have to use mind over matter. So, in order to gain strength physically, we all have to be strong mentally. Personally, if I ever feel bored, sad or poorly I think of my favourite things.... Food, beachy, mum, toys and fun. Auntie what is your list of your favourite things? You see as a canine I live in the moment, past and future I don't worry about. Mum says humans, especially poorly ones, all need to take a leaf out of the canine book. What leaf and what book? Again, what is in the food you humans eat? So many talking human riddles to solve!!! Thank God for kind Aunties to solve them :-). In order to sleep and rest and not deprive our bodies (ha, see I got the title of this thread in there somehow :-)), we all need to be focused on what is good for us. Now, with toxic disease and I know as I have it too... We cannot heal overnight. We cannot change the fact that we got sick, just like that. Everything takes time. Humans need to learn from animals, after all they are animals too but they forget this. We canines, listen to what we need. Do we need water? rest? sleep? fun? quiet? space? food? So, what do humans need in order to heal and become whole in mind, body and spirit? Auntie Cheryl, this is just so important isn't it!!! I think that all humans need to connect with themselves more and also nature. If the human brain was a computer Auntie, it sure would overheat with over use don't you think? So... I think that simplicity and tuning in to one's best interests is the key to regaining health. Learning new things is always good too. It would be good for me to learn to drive from this wee doggie in the video. I'm WELL IMPRESSED with his clever paw movements!! I'm actually rather smitten (blush!!). Aw, I will always take care of my mum as I love her dearly and she me. Mum said that whoever said that diamonds are a girl's best friend, never owned a dog :-). Take care of yourself Auntie Cheryl, Love Holly Woof XX | ||||||
