Auntie Cheryl has truly missed writing to you! When I read your last post to me, and saw that I received a special greeting from you, well, I was honored. I'm glad that you enjoy hearing my voice on the calls. It is very nice to have a voice to hear! The things we take for granted. Having had recent troubles with my voice, it is even nice to hear myself speak at times :-) But not as nice as it is to hear you join in on a call or audio every now and then. Uncle Mel says that everyone should be an active member of the community, and I'm sure he means sweet, curious dogs as well. Honestly Holly, the flying penguins story is one of the funniest things I have ever heard. It still makes me laugh whenever I think about it. I wish I could think up such a funny story for Uncle Mel's upcoming funny story contest. I don't know if I've ever heard a funnier story! I have found, Holly, that people are what they are. If you meet a human who enjoys doing the same things that you enjoy doing, you can certainly have fun playing with them. If not, just enjoy the nice things about them. Your mum has so many nice qualities, as you mentioned. A caring heart that loves you and causes her to take excellent care of you, is by far the most important thing. I have seen pictures of your nose, and it is quite adorable. It is fantastic that it works so magnificently! I can see where your mum's singing might bother you if you have very sensitive ears. Good thing you have floppy ears. That might help to muffle some of the sound. At least you know that your mum's singing comes from a happy heart. Well, songs can come from a sad heart as well, but sad songs need to come out just like happy ones do. Have you ever seen your mum sing a very sad song, cry a bit, and then immediately seem happier? That is because there was a sad song in her heart that just needed to come out. I suspect that when your mum says you can hear the grass grow, she means that your ears are excellent for picking up even the smallest sound, that she might miss. I have heard people say, "Don't let the grass grow under your feet!" I am trying to think if that has anything to do with hearing the grass grow, but I don't think so. I think it means to keep moving along. Maybe if you don't let the grass grow under your feet, you won't hear it grow. There, Auntie Cheryl is being silly. Besides, excellent ears like yours can probably hear the grass grow, even when you are inside on your cozy warm bed. Thank you for sharing your Holly dog philosophy with me. I agree completely with you and your mum that the pictures a person allows in their mind can either help them get well, or cause them to be discouraged. I really like your mum's mind over matter attitude. Thank you for sharing your favorite things with me, that help you keep a positive outlook. Food, beachy, your mum, toys, and fun are fantastic things to help you keep a great mind over matter attitude. I like to listen to the Bible on YouTube, first and foremost, to help me keep a positive outlook. I also enjoy Pinterest. Anna and I send pictures and videos back and forth to each other on Pinterest. Do you know Anna? You must have heard her on the calls. Other than that, I enjoy watching YouTube and TV with my husband. Although I have to admit that I can be a trial to watch anything with. I think I have to hear and understand every single word that's spoken. That can be trying for someone who figures that if they missed a word or thought, it will show up in the show again ;-) And everything has to make sense to me. My poor brain can't handle anything that doesn't make sense. My husband says that I over-think things. That does not seem to discourage me though, in my quest to figure every single thing out in every show we watch. Ha! I have made myself laugh at myself now :-) You will have to ask your mum what "over-think" means. I agree that it is always best to live in the moment. It is intetesting that your mum said humans should take a leaf out of the canine book. Holly, do you have a book full of leaves? If so, can I have one? I am only joking with you! When your mum says taking a leaf out of the canine book, she probably means following a canine's example of taking one day at a time. Excellent! The way you worked the title of this thread into your post :-) What a sharp little dog you are! (Sweet Holly, I don't mean that you have a point on your head when I say you are sharp. I mean you are VERY smart!) I am sincerely sorry that you have toxic disease. You are right that it takes time to heal. It is very, very important that you allow yourself plenty of time to heal. In that way dogs and humans are exactly alike. Also, all of the things you listed that a dog needs to heal, a human needs as well. All of this time Auntie Cheryl thought that you COULD drive. I didn't know that you couldn't. Any dog who is smart and coordinated enough to type and post, is certainly smart and coordinated enough to learn how to drive. I am sure that when the dog you are smitten with sees you driving, he will be smitten with you as well. It's very sweet that you and your mum have such a warm, loving relationship. I agree that diamonds are not all they are cracked up to be. There are many things in life that are much more important than a piece of jewelry, no matter how beautiful or expensive it is. Take good and gentle care, Holly. Watch out for your mum. Bring her lots of toys, so that she will forget about any worries she might have, and just play a while. Very fondly and sincerely, Auntie Cheryl | |||
