I've been listening to music as I've been hanging around the house the last few days, and today, I ran across one of my old favs..."Big Yellow Taxi" by...guess who...Joni Mitchell. I grew up listening to Joni Mitchell, and like most people, I remember lyrics of those songs that were so much a part of my life at that time.
Well...I was just randomly singing along today while doing laundry, and then...Boom! I started really "hearing" the lyrics. It's almost scary how much they mirror what we're all dealing with now...a toxic world...and the implied fallout of same.
I googled the lyrics and here's a part that kind of left me thinking of how everything is just so connected.
Hey farmer farmer Put away that D.D.T. now Give me spots on my apples But leave me the birds and the bees Please Don't it always seem to go That you don't know what you've got 'Till it's gone They paved paradise And put up a parking lot
There's no doubt Joni's a poet...and in my opinion, many of her songs seem eerily spiritually connected...and it was really even more attention getting that she wrote this song so long ago...in 1970.
In any case, Joni's music, as always is just so beautiful...and here's a link to same:
