Top 10 reasons to join this community -

1. The overwhelming amount of information that's available on this forum/site for $5 per month.

2. When uncertainty arises (and it will) there is a community full of people going through the same stuff that can help.

3. Mel's coaching. There's a few things on this one that I want to articulate a little bit about.

-I've dealt (as I'm sure we all have) with leadership.. some bad, some good. Overtime I've picked up on traits that make up a good leader.
-Mel is willing to say that he doesn't know the answer to something if he genuinely doesn't. But he always knows where to find that answer.
-This trait is close to the top... and hard to achieve (if not natural) in my opinion. Mel tailors coaching to the individual, rather than having an umbrella style approach. That doesn't seem like much.. but you can't talk to person A, the same way you'd talk to person B. I'm not sure if he knows that.. or it comes naturally. Hopefully articulated that well enough.
-He won't dance around the subject. He'll lay it out there, because you NEED to hear it... you may not want to though.
-Consistent. Again.. I've deal with some people that are asses on a Monday, and then pleasant as apple pie on Tuesday. It's aggravating to have someone bounce back and forth. Pick one, and stick to it. Makes it easier on everyone. Mel is definitely consistent.

There are others, but you get the gist.

4. Availability. I gotta be honest on this one... Mel talked a big game, but I didn't know him well or hadn't been around long enough to know if he was true to his word or not. He's gone out of his way to give me a call when he thought it was warranted.. he didn't have to, but he did. As I've gone through this.. it's almost like a stock market chart... I go up, down, up, down, higher highs with higher lows in an uptrend.. and then lower highs with lower lows on a downtrend.

5. Knowledge/Experience. Not just the forum. The calls.. which I've come to appreciate more as time has gone on. Who knows how many collective years of knowledge there are between Mel, the community, the guest speakers, and the forum. I wasted too much time digging on the internet before I finally found this place. After my first call, I stopped searching for MD solutions. The information is here.

6. I'm not drawing a word for this one.. compassion maybe? When I found this place -
Doc after doc told me I was doing self harm to my body and prescribing the wrong stuff. Demoralizing would be an appropriate word for the b/s for the way I was spoken to and/or "treated."
Getting lost in MD world on the internet. Man there are some serious rabbit holes you can go down. I had to make a decision early on if I wanted to go down a scientific style path, or a conspiracy path. Dealing with this is challenging in itself.. I chose, and still do choose to only acknowledge things with facts. Last thing I want to do is try and isolate myself further with misinformation.

So when I got here.. it felt like for the first time, that people knew the path I walked to find this place. A feeling of.. validation I guess. Which doesn't sound like much.. but it was and continues to be.

7. The support this community has from manufacturers. It's actually inspiring. Not just manufacturers, but the people that are willing to give up their time on a Saturday to come and speak. It's a selfless act on their behalf. It's much appreciated. Even if I can't make the calls, I'll catch the recording.

8. Diet. This is one of the biggest for me on this website. I can't get enough of it.. there's so much to learn. The recipes that I've tried to date have been awesome. Any questions I have, are always answered by knowledgeable people as well. Shout out to Peter And Joe!

9. Free stuff! Nuff said.

10. Getting better. That's the end game. I found myself here in Oct 20'. By the time I had figured out what was going on, I was in pretty bad shape. So earlier when I said that I stopped looking.. it was partly because I was exhausted, and partly due to the warm welcome. I hadn't even found a lot of the benefits the site had to offer yet. I can say.. that I'm definitely better than I was. I feel like I'm continuing to get better as time goes on. It's a process.. man.. it's a freakin process. But there are people here that have done, are doing it, contemplating doing it, or have loved ones going through it. It's diverse.. all walks of life are here.. and it sounds like more are on the way.

It's not something I would wish on anyone.. and it's not something anyone should go at alone either. So.. I suppose, in closing.. if you're still reading this. I hope you find the answers you're searching for, and the help you're trying to find. There's no shortage of information/disinformation. You gotta find what's right for you. If you're on the fence.. and can't decide.. I'd highly encourage you to attend the free conf calls Saturday or Sunday. It's what made my mind up.
