Hi Tracy,

Thank you so much for sharing this.

I don't think that I ever thought that my illness caused me to be more aware of God's presence, but now that I think about it, it does make sense. It will cause you to be still and become more aware of Him. I believe it also has to do with having such an intense desire to hear God so that we are more constantly seeking Him and at times crying out to Him. For me, I find myself listening more intently. Often times I hear Him speak to me through other people, but also through His Word and other Christian books. Surprisingly though it can even be through something I'm watching on television.

I've found that I'm so much more aware of God by what I see. Things that I used to take for granted. Like when I look up at the clouds in the sky I have a hard time taking my eyes off of them. It's like I'm seeing them for the first time. That before I was seeing them through blinders, and now they have been removed somehow and I can see things more clearly.

I've heard stories also by other Christians that said that they never felt as close to God as when they were going through extraordinarily difficult times in their lives. That afterward they really missed the closeness they felt during that time of hardship or illness.

God Bless,
Anna
