Strength For Today October 24 By Sharon Broyles

No Well Too Deep

"Sir," the woman said, "you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water?" John 4:11

To put it mildly, chronic illness is draining. I'm forced to continue tapping a rapidly depleting well of energy and emotion. Constantly trying to keep my balance between sickness and health can sap me of strength, hope, faith, and love---love for God, for others, and for myself. I may even feel, as the Samaritan woman did, that my inner well is too deep and too empty to be reached, much less satisfied.
The woman Jesus encountered was also drained, she from continually looking for love, always with the wrong man. Jesus not only met her longing, but He filled her parched soul by respecting her enough to trust her with the revelation that He was Israel's long-awaited Messiah.
Jesus Christ will reveal Himself to me as well, no matter how emotionally or physically enervated I may be. He has an overflowing bucket of living water on a rope so long that it will descend as deep as my need. Jesus reaches out to and into me with the only water that can fill me up and restore my needy soul.

Thank You, mighty God and heavenly Father, for revealing Yourself to me through Your Son then and Your Holy Spirit now. Touch the deepest part of my tired soul today that I might be filled with all the love You know I need.
