Magnificent Prayer by Nick Harrison

I love you, O Lord, my strength.
The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer;
my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge.
He is my shield and the horn of my salvation,
my stronghold. Psalm 18:1-2

A dear friend of mine who was an avid deer hunter,
told me the following story: "Rising early one morning," he said, "I heard the baying of my deerhounds in pursuit of their quarry.
"Looking away to a broad, open field in front of me, I saw a young fawn making its way across the meadow, looking as if its strength was nearly spent.
Reaching the rails of the field, it leaped over and
crouched within ten feet from where I stood.
"A moment later, two of the hounds advanced, and the fawn ran in my direction and pushed its head between my legs. I lifted the little thing to my breast, and, swinging round and round, fought off the dogs. I felt, just then, that all the dogs in the world could not, and should not capture that fawn after its weakness had appealed to my strength."
So is it, when human helplessness appeals to Almighty God. Well do I remember when the hounds of sin were after my soul, until, at last, I ran into the arms of Almighty God.

Pray About It: It seems amazing that a wild fawn would run to a man for protection from the pursuing hounds. But then, maybe it sensed the truth: that it had no other place to go.
We're very much like that fawn, chased by the enemy, by crushing circumstances, or by our own failures. From all of these baying hounds, God stands ready to fend off all of our pursuers. In our weakness, we must appeal to His strength.

Jesus Christ looks out for the weak ones whom the
world shoves to the wall. He puts His back to the
wall and receives them into His arms.
