MAGNIFICENT PRAYER by NICK HARRISON

Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth, keep the door
of my lips. Psalm 141:3 KJV

No prayer should be spoken more often by us than this
prayer of David: "Keep the door of my lips." There is
nothing in all of life to which most of us give less attention
than to our words. We let them fly from our lips as the
leaves fly from the trees when the autumn winds blow.
Many people seem to think that words are not important.
They watch their acts, their conduct, and then give full
license to their tongues. This is not right. A true Christian
should have a Christian tongue. (J.R. Miller)

PRAY ABOUT IT: A practical result of using our tongue
for prayer is that when we're not at prayer, the taste of
God's Spirit still comes from our mouth. It's useless to
insist that we will be strong in prayer and live with an
unholy tongue. James says that the tongue is full of
poison. But from the tongue of a Christian should come
only honorable words and humble prayers.
Watch your tongue today. Let it be used to edify others,
not criticize them.

Touch the man of God who understands prayer, at any
point, at any time, and a full current of prayer is seen
flowing free from him. (E.M. Bounds)
