JUST COME TO THE FREE WEEKEND CALLS YOUNG MAN AND START YOUR HEALING!

I called the dermatologist office today to see if the biopsy results came back. They did.. he diagnosed me with prurigo nodularis. I have a follow up appointment tomorrow where he will deliver the news to me that I'm picking and scratching.

I'm in the Navy, and every year we have to do a health assessment. They're pretty dull.. you go online and answer a ton of questions, and then eventually a doctor will call you and go over it and certify it. Everyone goes through the motions to get this thing done.. the doc, and the person being questioned. Everyone just wants to get it done and move on. Very... I can't think of the word... robotic? or mundane? I did mine in August... which was about the same time I was dealing with the first dermatologist who kept asking me about picking. The doc that called kept creating small talk, and was generally laid back and seemed like he was an alright guy. I had zero intention of mentioning anything about what was happening. The last thing I wanted to do, was create more problems for myself by introducing the Navy into this.. and that was before I figured out what was happening. Through his small talk it eventually came out that I was getting super frustrated with her and this situation. He let me know to save his number and give him a call anytime if I had any problems.. He also had a few suggestions and seemed genuinely concerned. Today, after learning of the coming diagnosis tomorrow.. I called him. Told him that this is getting out of control, and I'm running into problem after problem. I also mentioned that for some reason, Lyme disease specialists around here, are cash only, no insurance... which for the life of me I still can't figure out why. Anyways.. I had said that the costs that are coming up are going to be burdensome to say the least. I wasn't fishing.. I don't know how it is in your area.. but most places I had called have a fee of 375-900 for the first visit, and that doesn't include labs or follow ups. He told me that he wanted me to go to a colleague of his around this area (that is also in the Navy reserves) and that the doc would give me a thorough review, do some lab tests. He also got in touch with some folks in the Navy, and see about helping with some of the financial burden of all of this. That's the best news I've heard.. in awhile.

Fast forward a few hours, and my skin is bothering me.. kind of itchy. Whenever that happens, I go take a shower.. today at that time, I was feeling really foggy and told the wife I was going to be in there awhile. I started using Palm Olive soap (probably 5 times so far) from a few things I've read online.... honestly I've been doing a lot of different things. Anyways, I got out, dried off and went into the bedroom to start my 20 minute routine of wrapping, medicating, etc. That's when I saw fibers... and not just a one or two. I thought it was from the towel at first. I have never.. ever seen that many at once. It was about that time, the doc called me back.. he caught me right in this weird moment. Said that the other doc will call me tomorrow, and that he got another person involved to help wade through the finances, he said something else, but I was too busy looking at my body. I just blurted it out to him.. Said, "man, I know this is a debated subject and everything.. but I'm certain I have Morgellons.. I have never seen this much fiber before. I'm not crazy... this is real, there is too much here, this doesn't make sense." Something along those lines. He told me, that he knows I'm not crazy, and that's part of the hard part of lesser known diseases is convincing a doctor of it. He asked me to text him the disease name again so he could reference some stuff.. That's probably been the best response I've received to date. We hung up... and I was still looking at my arms trying to wrap my head around what was going on. I don't know what caused it.. it was like a mass exodus. I was trying to process what was happening. I called the wife in and before I could shut the door, I began to cry and tell her that I don't know what is happening. It's not like I can call a friend and ask them if they ever had this happen before. I told her that I don't know if my body is expelling them and healing, or if it's getting worse. It was very overwhelming. I don't cry very often.. but this was legit, very overwhelming. I got myself together, and bandaged up.

So tomorrow, I'll go see the Derma/Pathologist.. I already know how that's going to go. Then wait for the call from this other doc. Everyone that has suggested Mel.. I am planning on getting in touch with him as well. Believe me, I'm reaching for straws right now.

*Edit-

I don't know if both responses will go through or not. Tried to fix a few grammatical errors, and articulate a few things better. I also have decided that I will not be going in to the appointment with the derma tomorrow.. It's going to be a waste of my time and his. I've come to the conclusion that when you speak to a doctor and they have a diagnosis in mind.. that you're speaking to a brick wall. Their mind is made up. That may be a broad stroke of the brush, but it's been my experience thus far.

I'll update if/when anything changes.

Has anyone had that mass exodus thing I was talking about? What happened afterwards? I'm noticing white flakes here and there too.. idk if that is some type of eczema or what. It is super frustrating that there isn't a central reference for this. When you google Morgellons, you get so many conflicting and crazy things.
