| I do not want to come accross as negative, but there is no way anyone can know whether or not another person's immune system is strong or not. for any care takers out there, I would highly suggest that you get on a full vitamin and mineral support but also PROBIOTICS. Your gut consitutes 60% of your immunes system's ablility to fight diesease. My doctor just cam back from a seminar on immune system diseases. He told me that every speaker ended up coming back to a healthy gut for building your immune system. He now has me on several probiotics 3x's per day and to use several different brands and to rotate thru them. Once I have my consult on my tests, I am going to share my results and game plan. | Auntie M

| I have read on other Morgellons sites that individuals with extremely healthy immune systems and lifestyles have caught this and NOT through intimate contact (I don't mean sexual contact, I mean by touching the infected person). Then, there are those who have caught it from other sources, NOT from an infected person or from their personal living spaces. Then, there are those who have not caught it and they are intimate partners with an infected party (meaning they share the same bed linens and space). I know how I think I caught it, but am not sure. I had a compromised immune system and believe I came into physical contact with a possibly infected person during a medical emergency. She is now in a convalescent hospital. My parasite symptoms started right after that. The fungal infections, later.
We are all pretty much guessing about exactly how it is transmitted. At this point, I am not letting anyone come into my house, ride in my car, or touch me. All of these precautions SUCK, as I am, by nature, a very social, friendly person. I have always been a hugger, giving and getting them. I also was a professional massage therapist for 16 years and a nursing assistant and know the healing power of touch. In 16 years of professional massage, I NEVER caught anything from a client. I stopped doing massage therapy long BEFORE I caught this.
The idea of giving this to someone would be almost more than I could personally take, at this point. The tradeoff has been the isolation, which has been depressing for me. What has really raised my spirits has been connecting to others through this site, speaking on the phone with some individuals here who share this condition and who are getting well. Some are much further along in the healing process than me, so that gives me hope.
Today, I personally met with someone with this condition, in a public space. We have been supporting each other by phone. It has really raised my spirits to be befriending someone who understands and is also experiencing this process. We are problem solving together. What has been difficult is that immediate family members do not understand this and some don't believe what I am telling them is true, as far as the extent and agony of the symptoms. I live alone, so all communication with them has been by phone or email. There is virtually no response from them about this. So I have chosen to distance myself from them for now, because I don't want the stress I feel from what feels like rejection. I am just too sick right now to figure out how to fix these relationships. I have also lost 2 best friends (40 years each of friendship) to cancer. Making new friends while sick is difficult, so I am grateful for the extension of concern and comradeship from those here.
I am lucky I have an extraordinary support system of healthcare professionals (including a psychologist and an acupuncturist who both met me before I got this, and have witnessed this disease process in me and have been extraordinarily supportive) and now, a group of peers getting well together, whom I have met here. Thank you Mel for this site and for your personal support and THANK YOU EVERYBODY who has reached out to me. I am hanging in there. | Rick

| Good Question.
I am a friend of Mel's who dabbles in esoteric alternative techniques and devices so when Mel told me that he had this weird disease, I did a little research and suggested to Mel that he may have Morgellons. I guess I diagnosed it for him. Anyway being the mad scientist that I am, I decided that I would try some of my technologies on him. Over then next year or so I visited Mel at his apartment numerous times trying different protocols on him (all which were pretty much worthless on him). In the summer time, I'd come over in my flip-flops and walk around barefoot in his house- totally ignorant of the potential harm I was placing myself in. Now Mel is an unbelievably clean guy- you can probably eat off his polished and cleaned 15x floors and have no ill effects- but this Morgellons thing is in uncharted terrain. Anyway, I am a pretty healthy guy and after spending a lot of time at his abode working on him with my equipment, I feel pretty sure that if your immune system is up to par, anyone interacting with a Morgellons patient should be ok. My ignorance of the seriousness of this disease could have been extremely detrimental to my health and I guess I am pretty lucky I apparently have a healthy immune system to fight it off.
Hope this helps.

| This one I had to really think about. Because I want to emphasize that my state of health was compromised when I caught this. I had shelves of vitamins and supplements that went untouched for 6 months. I was under a huge amount of stess - for many reasons. So, I was a perfect hunting ground for this monster. I feel that I did catch this from my mother, who was also lacking the essentials for great health. She had had it for six months before she came to visit me. We sat on the same furniture, used the same car, were together constantly and I still did not get it. So, suffice it to say that I definitely feel like it is not a casual transferance. However, after she left, I slept in the bed that she had occupied for 6 weeks and, used the same pillow. Of course, you have to know that I, at the time, did not know she had anything more than Delusions of Parasitosis. It was only after I got the symptoms that I researched it and found this "unexplained dermopathy" thing at the CDC website. So, I think that had I not used that guest bed after her that I would not have it. So I think intimate contact and an compromised immune system play a part in this. Get on some great vitamins, minerals, amino acids, probiotics, etc. I use the ones on this site and really like them. | mel

| Hiya Juststuff,
Welcome; You have come to the right place.
I have already e-mailed you my phone #. Please feel free to call me.
As I and many others here have recently mentioned to Brian, it takes a very special person to undertake this mission in support of another. We will do all we can to help you!
It was uplifting to see the good advice that was shared with Brian as a new visitor... namely to focus on this protocol. It is so easy to become distracted and overwhelmed as you surf the web in search of answers.
Funny you should mention the critical need for a centralized location to keep track of meds and note changes in diet, environment, etc. along with their corresponding effects on health status. The very nature of Morgellons makes it challenging to stay on track, and there is a tendency to constantly be seeking ways to find immediate relief.
We are currently designing just such a tool for the benefit of all who will agree to allow us to compile(and eventually publish)their data(identities will be protected). We hope that by charting our progress individually, common patterns will emerge and each of us will become more familiar with our particular cycles and what behaviors and choices set us back.
The path to freedom from this scourge requires courage, patience perseverance and faith. Your loved one is blessed to have you in her corner.
God bless you, mel
P.S.- One common denominator to this disease process is compromised immunity or bioterrain, so remember to take good care of yourself. Whatever the causative agent(s)are, they are everywhere, but not all are affected. Our prayers are with you both. | juststuff **
11/10/2009 11:55:27 AM | This is my firt time to respond to any of these blogs. I am also trying to help someone but am so afraid of getting it myself. This is the first time I read a blog where someone was concerned for the helper and offering advise. Please everyone give your advise to the loved ones of morgellons sufferers of how to help with limited risk. I am also interested in knowing how many people know who they contracted it from and if they know for fact if anyone has contracted it from them. Do you think this could be contracted from a public pool as I am concerned my friend uses one daily? Blogs are great ...but charting the health history is the real form of information. If I were able I would start an interactive chart. Information gathered in one spot could trigger a less obvious answer to Mogellons and how it is contracted and prevented. Also, does anyone have any ideas as to the time line of exposure to the signs of actually having it so I would know what to look for and if I have acguired it. So many ????
Answers and theories to any of my questions would be helpful. | | |
