| Hi LD,
Glad to hear that you are doing so well.
There is near universal agreement that citrus fruits are alkalizing, but considerable confusion as to why. Citrus fruits are acidic; lemons and limes have a pH of around 2 (pH 7 is neutral). So how could they be alkalizing?
Your stomach is an organ that is designed to produce acid to break down proteins and other nutrients before they enter the small intestine. The small intestine is designed to be alkaline, so as to break down the nutrients even further to facilitate absorption into the bloodstream for transport to the cells.
Stomach acid (HCL) has a pH of around 1. Your stomach normally maintains a pH of around 2 to facilitate the digestive process. Foods that are whole and natural, unadulterated, and high in acid (like lemons, kiwis, grapefruit, etc.) are easy to digest because they cause so little stress to the stomach. Little or no additional acid is needed for digestion, and consequently, less neutralizing is required in the small intestine.
Problems occur when 'alkalizing' and 'alkaline' are used interchangeably. Alkaline foods and beverages call for more stomach acid, and may contribute to acidification of body fluids and tissues down the line. But eating more alkaline foods is just what many are recommending, with potentially dangerous consequences. Alkalizing the stomach puts extra stress on the entire system.
Failure to break down proteins and fats in the stomach due to the use of anti-acids is considered by many experts in the field of nutrition to be a leading contributor to the development of colorectal cancer. Disrupting the acid balance in the stomach is bound to have negative effects, and especially if it becomes a regular routine.
Bottom line, if we eat the mineral rich foods that our creator intended for us to eat, we will maintain a slightly alkaline blood pH without causing undue stress on the body. If we eat processed, demineralized and devitalized "food" our bodies must rob from their own resources to survive.
So, rather than buying expensive alkalizing pills or water, the best way to prevent buildup of acid wastes is to eat God's foods. If you want to supplement your diet or use something to offset poor choices, the best way to go is to start your day with a high quality greens drink.
The only drawback to greens drinks is that they typically taste horrible. Manufacturers often try to overcome this taste issue by loading their formula up with sugar or worse yet, toxic chemical sweeteners.
Logos Nutritionals is working on a new cutting edge greens formula that tastes good - with no compromises. MagnifiGreens will be available soon. we will make an announcement when it is ready.
Once again, good to see you back LD. please keep us posted on your continued progress.
Blessings, John B

| Hi Sara, I just want to give you some encouragement that you can lick this if you take responsibility for your own health by reading as much as you can about PH Balance. Getting well without understanding how it is done is just asking for a repeat and you really have to know why your body got there in the first place which is usually mainly due to an acid/alkaline inbalance. The book I suggest is 'The Acid=Alkaline Diet' by Christopher Vasey. He does mention a few foods to eat or avoid but he does not go into it extensively.
There was a list someone mentioned when I first got on Mel's site and others I have seen on the internet but they were contradictory so I have been reading books on my own and after reading 3 different books I have decided to start testing myself. But somethings you have to take their word for they say that oranges, lemons, lime, although they register acid, they change when they go through your system. I truly hope so for I am betting on that because my ph has been very acid and I have been trying to get it up because it has affected by White Blood count which is also very low. So low that my Dr. is very concerned. Which also brings me to another important thing. You need a Dr. to moniter your progress because most people use a dr. Mel did and my Dr. knew nothing about Morgellons but because I went in with Mel's protocol and seemed knowledgeable she was willing to take me on. We did the test through great plains which helped because it told what things would work on my body. I made great strides (We all go through the horrible nightmare and times we think we are a gonner) but sticking to Mel's protocol along with a few other things my Dr. suggested after more lab tests I'm 97% better. The 100% I feel will come when I can get my acid/alkaline balance in sink. But in the mean time the MMS and M/S is what I use to control the morgellons bug. Can't swear by the M/S as much but the MMS I know it killed the bugs in my clothes for they were all left dead in my washing machine so to be that made me a believer plus a prior early post in the beginning from a fellow on Mel's site. Another thing I will tell you about MMS that you can test for yourself is that when I put a drop of MMS on Litmus paper (which is used to test for acid/alkaline) it tests the highest on the akaline scale. Well, you know that we have to activte MMS with lemon and when you do that it turns the litmus paper very acid. So that is why I said I hope the researcher are correct when the say that lemons, oranges and limes turn alkaline going through your body.
One other thing I would like to share with everyone is that when you read books or material on acid/alkaline that you will find they are contradictory on some foods. One says tomatoes are acid, another says it is alkaline. So you can test that (unless they change in our bodies) But the most exciting thing I discovered is: One book says the more ripe the banana is, the more acid it is, visa versa. Vasey says that banana is the only alkalizing fruit, which I found so far is true (have not tested all the fruits but most of them.) But what he forgets to tell you that it is acid until it gets very, very ripe then is alkaline. Brown and soft even almost ready to turn black (but not bruised part because that is acid because it did not go through the natural process>) So for 2 years, I thought I was helping my acid balance but was eating bananas the wrong way. You can get alkalaine support pills which will help bring your ph up to alkaline which I suggest because they contain other natural products like licorice, calcium citrate, magesium, unless you can stomach stuff like alfalfa sprouts, brodock roots, kamut sprouts, etc. But they are not cheap, $50.00 for 90 capsules.
Also pre and probotics as well as enzymes and antoxidants are important which are all found in John B.'s vitamins. So stick with Mel's protocol using John B's vitamins and at least the mms and m/silver. And don't worry about getting the bactrium long term.
I truly believe that my jounery was meant to be a long one because I am learning so much more and will hopefully be able to help more people. I am alerting everyone to watch their ph because all the immune deficiency disease that I have been running into lately I feel is because people's ph is too acid because most foods we eat are acid now days./
There is hope so keep up the faith everyone and you will be able to share your experience with others to help them.

| Thanks Mel for all your help & support. It has taken me a while to respond because I am in Atlantic City, NJ on vacation with my family (at my Mom's apartment). Her apartment is completely infested with morgs I am doing the protocol minus the Bactrim. I know you monitor these forum replies so I will not write all of what I am really feeling. It is too depressing. I do not have hope, & I am completely alone. Every site, every post, every person with these disease gives different, & contradicting advice. I will only say that I would like to have some support and people to help me in the NC area. If anyone on this site is near Greensboro, NC, please contact Mel & he will help me get in touch with you. My life has been completely turned upside down by this disease in the past year. Everyone in my famly thinks I have DP. I want my health restored more than anything!!! | mel

| Hello Sara,
Welcome.
Since you and I have talked at least three times since 7/27/11, most of the information I will now share is for the benefit of others.
THE SUM OF THE PARTS, I HAVE SAID IT ONE HUNDRED TIMES: "I DO NOT THINK YOU CAN RESTORE YOUR HEALTH WITH ONLY SOME OF THE PARTS". I KNOW YOU CAN RESTORE YOUR HEALTH WITH ALL OF THE PARTS. THIS MAY BE A PLAY ON WORDS BUT IT IS THE TRUTH!
Read read read! Only the lack of knowledge can hold you from obtaining your goal(restoring your health)!
16 pages of information, a page a day, a half a page a day, in a month or less to have every question you wanted answered, asked by others many times over and answered here in our FORUM pages.
To contact others, I suggest you post behind my post, no last name and your city and those who respond I shall then forward their info to you!
I will address Bactrim in two or three days in another post, A NEW NATURAL ANTIBIOTIC.
I look forward to watching your progress as you restore your health.
God bless, NEVER NEVER give up Hope! MEl

7/27/2011 11:04:34 PM | Hi Mel,
I have the protocol except the MMS & Bactrim. I will order the MMS, but am not sure I will find a Bactrim prescriber for long term use easily. Will the protocol help without it? Also, I know you say not to combine protocols, but I started taking some Neem Capsules & Oil of Oregano. I also wanted to try the Baking Soda/Maple Syrup I've read is helpful for health.I am just trying to get by day by day - reading enough to be helpful, but not too much. Thank you for not allowing horror stories on this site, as I have read a few that are so terrifying. You are right, this disease is hard enough, I just like to read about experience, strength & hope!! I do need more support though, & wondered what you thought would be the best way for me to get my story out to others who I could connect with locally for help. Thanks so much for all you do here! | | |
