I decided to start MMS at a low dose due to previous experiences with Herxheimer Reactions from pharmaceuticals drugs. My Morgellons is complicated by Rheumatological conditions, allergies, and intolerances. Past experience with pharmaceutical drugs indicated that starting with a low dose and slowly working up would minimize the Herxheimer Reaction.

I decided to start at 1drop daily, a low dose for me at over 6 feet and 220lbs. I planned to stay at 1 drop daily for one week. On day three I had a very severe Herxheimer Reaction. I was able to quell the Herxheimer Reaction by taking 500mg of Vitamin C. Just like I'd read it would. I decided to continue with MMS but at a much lower dose, a 1/4drop daily. Even this low dose gave me a mild Herxheimer Reaction. Once again I used Vitamin C to stop the Herxheimer Reaction.

In 20 - 20 Hindsight: I would start at 1/4 drop daily working up by each week by 1/4 drop as tolerated. Always remembering Vitamin C will neutralize the MMS thus quelling the Herxheimer Reaction.

Hi Mel and PS,
Thank you for your advices and welcoming me to the board. PS, I have to take medication to suppress my immunse system due to my rheumatoid arthritis. There's so many things that I don't know about Morgellons and how to approach it without aggravate the other. I sure will need a lot of help from you. I'll check out the link you sent me. I hope you don't mind if I have questions in the future regarding this. Again, thank you very much for your response and caring. Traci

Traci,

I also have Arthritis, though it is not Rheumatoid I think some of my experiences may be of interest to you.

Since many of us with autoimmune diseases may respond to new drugs or supplements I decided to start slow. Check out my post on thread titled MMS: A gentler approach It goes through my experience and method.

I don't know if you are on a type of immune suppression for your arthritis. I am. As a result I cannot take many supplements as many tend to stimulate the immune system.

Food allergies and intolerances: It's shorter to list what I can eat than to list what I can't. Gluten intolerance is common for many of us with autoimmune diseases. It would be difficult for me to control my diseases without a strict adherence to my diet (loosely described a paleolithic diet).

Now for the good news. Since I have been taking MMS and a protocol very similar to Mel's (it would be even closer except for my allergies and intolerances) in addition to Morgellons my autoimmune diseases have been remitting. I now have no sore knuckles or hands for the first time in many years.

I need to avoid flairs with my disease as they can cascade out of control. My path has been slow and steady. My improvement as a result has been slow but my Herxheimer Reactions have been manageable and after cutting back minimal, something you may wish to consider.

Remember there is hope. Good luck on your path to wellness.

Hiya Traci,

Welcome!

Starting the protocol is a great first step. We have found that those who realize that they have Morgellons in the early stages have a chance to stabilize quickly (typically three to four months).

The best thing you can do for the children is to get them or keep them on a very good vitamin regiment, as well as a healthy diet!

Keeping the immune system strong is a key strategy in the prevention of Morgellons, as well as part of the answer to overcoming Morgellons.

I have always believed that Morgellons has phases or stages, as well as a reproduction cycle.

Hi,

I recently came down with this horrific disease a little more than 2 months now. At first, I thought I had flea since we have a dog. We had tried professional exterminator, steam clean the carpet, spray the entire house with flea product to almost threw everything away, but I still can't get any relief from the constant crawling, biting and stinging from an invisible bugs besides lots of little black pecks, lints. I clean and wash like crazy. Now my husband starts to itch and getting bites on his head and legs. I'm so worry out of my mind that my family will be infected by this horrible disease and my husband might loose his job because of this. I came across mr.CS blog and get some helpful advice on how to clear my car with menthol crystals and start some basic vitamins and supplements, but I have rheumatoid arthritis and there's certain supplements that could complicate my medical problems. I don't know how to tackle this disease so it won't spread to my daughter who hasn't showed any signs yet. I'm desperate and need help. Traci
